Journal 52 Weeks 7 & 8
Week 7's themes were Self Love and/or Nerdy Love. I chose Self Love, one of those things that most of us struggle with from time to time.
Week 8's themes are What the Heart Knows and/or Skulls/Crows. I chose the latter...well, because I like skulls, and I like crows. I may revisit the Heart theme too, because I also like hearts.

Take A Word--Sepia
A Most Peculiar Man
He was a most peculiar man.
That's what Mrs. Riordan said and she should know;
She lived upstairs from him
She said he was a most peculiar man.
He was a most peculiar man.
He lived all alone within a house,
Within a room, within himself,
A most peculiar man.
He had no friends, he seldom spoke
And no one in turn ever spoke to him,
'Cause he wasn't friendly and he didn't care
And he wasn't like them.
Oh, no! he was a most peculiar man.
He died last Saturday.
He turned on the gas and he went to sleep
With the windows closed so he'd never wake up
To his silent world and his tiny room;
And Mrs. Riordan says he has a brother somewhere
Who should be notified soon.
And all the people said, "What a shame that he's dead,
But wasn't he a most peculiar man?"
That's what Mrs. Riordan said and she should know;

Journal 52 Week 6--Below our Feet and Above our Head.
This one took a lot of thinking--probably too much.
Gessoed and painted, collaged over paint, paint over collage, more gesso...on and on.
finally I looked at the mess, and the words came to me--what ACTUALLY was beneath my feet.
I kinda like it.
over my head are the stars, a little blurry and messy, but bright and sparkly too. the quote is attributed to Snoopy.

SPA--Love Gives You Wings
On the Wings of Love
Come take my hand and
Together we will rise
On the wings of love
Up and above the clouds
The only way to fly
Is on the wings of love
On the wings of love
Only the two of us
Together flying high
Flying high up on the wings of love
Together we will rise
On the wings of love
Up and above the clouds
The only way to fly
Is on the wings of love
On the wings of love
Only the two of us
Together flying high
Flying high up on the wings of love

DigitalMania--in the Style of Kanchan Mahon
Kanchan Mahon is a self taught artist using the medium of hand-cut paper collage.
Her art is quixotic, vibrant and otherworldly. Images are combined with intricate pattern, rich texture.
The qualities and concepts embodied by butterflies, flowers and birds infuse these pieces with the rich symbolism of the natural world. These women dream of flight, like the birds they see, They long for change and to transform themselves, as do moths and butterflies. There is a flowering of self.
In these couplings of myth and psyche her art celebrates the loveliness and liveliness of women. She calls these images of vivid color and intricate detailed patterns "Dream Images.”
Here are some pieces created in her style. Portraits found on Google search , Mannerist paintings, the rest are bits from various Mischief Circus kits and my collection.

Journal 52 Week 5
This week's prompts are Psychedelic and Monochrome.
My pieces wanted to be "not Quite..." so my colors are bright, but not quite psychedelic. amd my monochrome blues cried for a little white and green.
what can one do when one's muse is calling, "go this way, please."
The not quite psychedelic colors are collage papers from Crowabout studio, cut up and pasted over painted book pages, then scribbled and marked with black pen and white correction fluid pen.
The monochrome blue base was made cleaning my brush after painting another piece, then rubbed with a baby wipe, I applied some washi tape, but later removed it, tearing up a layer of paint. The flowers were scribbled with watercolor crayons and the same correction fluid pen. the scribbled journaling is my answer to the above question about the muse...it says "say yes" over and over again.
