Back to school--School Days

It's back to school around the world!  Let us all not forget to cultivate imagination and creativity in our children, as well as knowledge and the discipline of study.
Image is a freebie from somewhere; the background is made from a texture from Elizabeth Golden enhanced with brushes that I made.
This is for Crazy Amigos challenge "Back to School" and perhaps for Three muses' upcoming "School Days" theme.

Take a Word--Clockwork

Made from a clockwork background from Kaukassus at Deviantart, a grandfather clock face and the cornflowers that are from my stash.  And a lot of adjusting layering, filtering and blending.

I like the pop of the colors and the busyiness of the pattern.

Texture Tuesday--Ironworks

Our challenge this week was to use at least one layer of Kim's texture, Dreamit.  It's a beauty, and would enhance almost any photo. I used it to add a sepia patina to a photo of a machine from ironworks on display at the Johnstown Flood Museum.

Take a Word--Tattered

The word tattered always makes me thing of old, well-loved toys, and quilts made
by great-grandmothers from scraps of worn out clothes, that kept us warm and cozy.

The bear, blocks and quilts were found on Google.  The sunflower is a free stock image
from deviantart, all altered with filters, blending tools and brushes.

Thanks for visiting...

52 Starlets--Gene Tierney

A beautiful woman, and such a sad and painful life.  That sadness and pain come through
in many of the photographs of Gene Tierney
...and Oh!  that thousand mile stare...that looks right through you

Don't know who this is or from whence it came.  It was one of AJ's samples.  I can't begin to tell you how I did it.

This is the lovely Darryl Hanna as Priss in Blade Runner

Take a Word--Memories

Memories,
Light the corners of my mind
Misty water-colored memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures,
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were
Can it be that it was all so simple then?
Or has time re-written every line?
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me, would we? could we?
Memries, may be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget
So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember...
The way we were...

Mandarin Orange Monday--Santa Fe

Didn't do much to this--a little posterize, a little edge enhancement, a little sandstone texturizing.
The little thingies on the top of the walls are luminarias, it was near Christmas, and at night they were lit up.  They were actually all over the square.  It was beautiful!

This ia also my entry for Collage Obsession's Orange Challenge.
