Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. painted with photoshop brushes.

Mandarin Orange Monday--Cable Cars

Took this photo several years ago in San Fransisco.
The car really was orange and yellow.  I used a -new to me- tool on this one,
Smart Blur , in the Blur Filters menu.  I set it to Overlay edge and played
with the threshold and radius sliders until I liked it.

The Bride

'Love, Love!' I said, 'the day was long'--'Oh, long indeed,' she sighing said.
'I grow so jealous of the sun, since I am dead.'

(How sweet the air is in the night, how sweet, sweet, sweet the flowers seem--
But oh, the emptiness of dawn that breaks the dream!)

Some collage play

A couple of collages created by following a "recipe."  Face of a Madonna, crumpled or old paper texture, vintage birds and plants or flowers, gold leaf texture, a halo extracted from a Medieval painting and a grungy black edge.  I added the manuscript page--I'm a sucker for text textures.

Three Muses--Autumn Colors

Reflections of Autumn
My photo, altered with saturation, artistic filters and blending modes, and an image

Another Watercolor Tutorial

original photo
After the watercolor effect.  It became orange because I didn't notice that I had my brush color set to a red-orange shade ( the tutorial didn't mention color, so I didn't think about it.)
I do like the lovely autumn feel of it though.

Playing in Photoshop--Watercolor effects

I've been exploring Photoshop technique tutorials lately.  I 've always wanted to paint in watercolor, but have no talent for handling actual paint and brushes.
But, I'm quite pleased with this one.

Collage Obsession--Anthropomorphic

Do you ever see tree spirits?  I do, all the time.  Look closely at the next ancient tree you come across and maybe you will see one too.
The tree was found on Google Images; the tree spirit and background are from my own photos.

Designing Album Covers

This week's theme at Digital Mania Flickr group is to design album covers.  Here are the ones I made.

Image is Lovers, by Picasso, Sun overlay from Michelle Shefveland and Rachel Shefveland at Cottage Arts, textures by the fabulously generous Elizabeth Golden at Last Door Down the Hall.

One of my very favorite songs, both the Martha Ray and Bowie/Jagger versions. Image found on Google Images, altered with Cutout filter and brushes.

Image from a painting by Paul Gauguin, enhanced with Gradient map, posterize filter and brushes.
