Playing with a new Technique
Using the Displace filter- one of the tools in the Distort filter drop down menu-- to create the look of an image painted onto a textured surface, like a wall. I found the technique in a Photoshop Elements Techniques magazine that I subscribe to, so I don't feel that I can freely share it, but the site for the magazine offers a lot of free tutorials and this may well be one. photoshopelementsuser.com
The brick window is a freebie from Elizabeth Golden, the sign is from Dover and the apples were googled.

Take a word--Album
Am album page of my handsome hubby and some of his many "famous" friends.
Background made with paper from Songbird Avenue and PS brushes. The photos were cropped with clipping masks--my own and a few from Endlessdeep.

Arch from Google Images, leaves from Wikimedia, woman from Graphics Fairy. Background from Untamed Reflections and the leaf overlay is an original brush made from a botanical drawing.

a NewChallenge
Over at Kris Dickinson's blog, Nostalgic Collage
http://nostalgiccollage.blogspot.com/ there is a new Gothic Arch Challenge. I always loved looking at the Gothic arch challenges of old, although, while still in blogger infancy, I never could figure out how to join it.
anyway, I would like very much to play in this one so here's my attempt.
I made the arch from a custom shape--would you believe an acorn? The image is from Suzee Que; the bird and music from the Graphics Fairy; the poppies from Google images; the background from pieces by Cottage Arts, Textures for Layers and Peggy Gatto. And the rest is blending, filters and PS brushes.
Three Muses Challenge- -Doorway
Behind the Turquoise Gate
I often revisit the photos I took on my trips to New Mexico, and they never fail to delight me and evoke wonderful memories and deep feelings.
My photo and Kokopelli brush. The crow is also a brush and the overlay from Shadowhouse.

Take a Word-Male
Young Man with a Bow Tie
Image from Lizzie_Anne at Collage Images Flickr group; frame from FrodoBabbs at Frames and Borders Flickr group. Embellishments from Dover, Graphics Fairy and Trine Stecker.
SPA- Pierrot
What an interesting theme! When I googled Pierrot for images there were so many--and all so different! Sad, happy, cute children in clown costumes, internationally famous actors, elegant dancers, tragic faces, and not just a few creepy ones.
I chose these , from Wikimedia Commons, both used with permission of the photographers and altered with Fotosketcher, my new favorite free toy.
The grungy diamond pattern is from Bittbox and the rest was done with brushes, filters and blending.
Thanks for visiting.

Take a word-Music
I made this piece for the DW 100 Themes challenge.
Photos from Google images, unknown cello player, and Jacqueline Du Pre, both greatly alterd with the Impressionist plug in for photoshop. The music in the overlay is a handwritten score by Puccini, and the text and frame are from Frames for Use Flickr Group.
This is a photo used with the permission of the photographer, Nir Landau and altered with filters, blending modes and gradient layers.

SPA-Pink
Just back from a week on Cape Cod. No computer, but there were sunny days, rainy days, beautiful sunsets, amazing fog, sandy beaches to walk, crashing waves on the ocean side, quaint villages and Provincetown. A lovely relaxing trip--rest, reading good books, eating good food, lots of photography...
...but, nice to be home again.
Here's my pink postcard. Thanks to Gaby Braun, the Graphics Fairy, Jerry Jones at Shadowhouse, and all the folks who create and share their fabulous Photoshop brushes.
