Take a Word--Grandma's Recipes

What I learned most from spending summers with my Nana was not so much recipes, but how to cook.  She had the basic recipes for biscuits, cookies, soups, sauces and pies in her head, and she taught me proportions, and most importantly--not to be afraid to add stuff and experiment with flavors.
Between her and my dad, who was a cook in the Navy,  I can make a mean soup, a great pasta sauce, and take a basic cookie recipe to great heights.

    Great page, Linda. Wonderful image of child and grandmother. My grandmothers lived far away, so I never learned to cook from them. Wish I had. They were both wonderful cooks!
